Fishnets and Velvet

I love experimenting with layers in the winter time. When it is as cold as it is at the moment we tend to get all rugged up in our warmest clothes and have a really casual style. This can look cool too but sometimes you feel like adding a little Luxe into the equation but with the bonus of staying warm as well. Evening accessories don't have to just be for a night out, mix them with your day wear. I love rich textures like velvet and by adding this little vintage evening bag changes the look. Also instead of wearing your woolly tights (all be it not so warm) go for a pair of fishnets! They can really glam up a casual style and are great under ripped jeans. I just love them worn with trainers and the contrast of two styles together.
Do you mix your evening accessories with your casual look?
Let me know what you think?

Embroidered Jeans

I thought I was late jumping on the embroidery bandwagon, but there is no escaping it at the moment and it isn't fading out anytime soon. It's on nearly every item of clothing right now so I thought I would give it a go. I love embroidery on summer dresses and have a playsuit, but wasnt sure what I thought of it on other items of clothing at first. Now I am sold!
These are by far the best embroidered jeans i have seen. I have searched high and low and some are just way too busy for me. These jumped out for their simplicity, just giving that splash of colour and feminine design.

Where are they from you ask!

None other than Primark!

I dont know why but I had never thought of buying jeans at Primark, I have always been a loyal fan of the Jamie jeans at Topshop which you see me in all the time.
These are a mid rise skinny jean which fit so nicely. You would think the material itself would be quite thin but it is a good thickness and really comfy. I love the subtle stonewash effect too.
They look great dressed down with a cosy winter knit, this one I actually got with the jeans, I  love olive green at the moment and the colour sits really nicely next to the blue. I havent taken the jeans off since I bought them and I think you may see a lot of them in the future on instagram.

Let me know what you think? Have you got any embroidered clothes in your wardrobe?

SouthGate Summer Social Stylist Winner!

I was really lucky to be chosen to be one of SouthGate's Social Stylists for two weeks this Summer! I was really excited when SouthGate’s Personal Stylist Emmeline Stevens contacted me to talk about my style and love for fashion and then announce I had won! I was really looking forward to meeting and shopping with Emmeline.
I was given a style day challenge to put together two outfits using the shops at SouthGate, one was the 'Big Day' for the perfect wedding outfit and the other was a 'Spring/Summer look of my choice. I was given a fantastic budget of £300 for the wedding and £175 for the Summer outfit which was announced to me on film!

Taking part in Southgate’s Social Stylist challenge was such a fantastic opportunity to share my style with SouthGate. I have to say I was a little nervous on the day knowing that the local on line TV channel, Bath on TV would be filming throughout the challenge, but once we dived straight in to an interview among the crowd of shoppers I loved every minute of the experience and had great fun working with the team.

Here are the two outfits I chose on the day:

I have always wanted a chic tailored dress and this one was like it was made to measure and with such a flattering length. It caught my eye on the hanger but it wasn't until I put it on that I knew I had found that dress. Worn with this versatile little white jacket and teamed with some sexy black ankle strappy heels, I was ready for that wedding!

Jacket - Coast @ Debenhams
Necklace - Ben de Lisi @ Principles, Debenhams
Shoes I chose are not shown in this photograph (see next post)

I wanted a Jumpsuit to be the main focus of my Spring/Summer look. I wanted something fun and very on-trend this season. Topshop had this really cool black one that I was really excited to try on. I am also loving the chunky wedges in the shops right now and they do a great collection so I teamed the jumpsuit with these striking bright blue wedges for a splash of colour. A gorgeous chunky statement necklace was also needed (I love my bold statement jewellery and both Topshop and New Look do a great range) Finished off with this neon green satchel.

Jumpsuits are really versatile and look good dressed up or dressed down. They are great for the evening worn with chunky wedges or for a sexier look worn with heels. Also with our unpredictable British weather it is a handy must have for the wardrobe!

The Challenge was a mad rush around but so much fun and lastly it was a mad dash to New Look for those wedding dress shoes we needed to go with the dress! I managed to grab the exact pair I was after before the shops shut! I love ankle strap heeled sandals at the moment and look great with dresses and smart shorts. Check them out in my next post!

As the day came to an end we took advantage of the deck chairs on the lawn at SouthGate in the sunshine for one final film about the day. Exhausted? Yes. Would I do it again? Of course!

And that wasn't the end of it; After my style challenge day, I then had two weeks to takeover SouthGate's Social Media every day to share my style tips and must have Summer buys with the shoppers of SouthGate!
During my two weeks I was on the cover of SouthGate's Facebook and Twitter page and on their Website Homepage! I also appeared on a double page spread in The Bath Chronicle, Bath Life and The Bath Magazine.
The whole experience was fantastic! My last day was really sad as I didn't want it to end, I had the best time!

Watch the video here by Bath on TV to see how I got on with my Summer Style Challenge

And that’s a rap!

Thanks so much to Emmeline and the rest of the team for making the day so much fun!

I love cigarette trousers at the moment and they are a must for S/S 2013 in all different colours and patterns. I really wanted to get a smart pair of black high wasted ones and I found these at Asos and love them, they look great with a pair of pointy heels. Topshop are also doing a wide range of cigarette trousers and I have my eye on a couple of colourful pairs so watch this space! I also love this spotty Urban Outfitters shirt, I cant stop wearing it; looks great with high wasted blue jeans or a skater skirt too.

Dr. Martens - The Roni Boot!

Who said Dr. Martens can’t be girly? Well here are my Roni Boots in Oxblood from their Zita collection at Dr. Martens and I am addicted. So feminine but also so Dr. Martens! They are such a perfect pair of boots and even with that heel (which I love) they are so comfortable! That will be the Air Wair with Bouncing Soles Dr. Martens are traditionally famous for I do believe. I can’t stop wearing them and will never be without a pair. They also do them in black which I may eventually have to get. I just love the oxblood colour as it represents Dr. Martens and contrasts nicely with the sole. I love these boots and can’t recommend them enough. They can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I wear mine with skinny jeans, leggings and with tights and skirt. Infact you will always see me wearing them at the moment!

Black Hats!

Ok so I have a slight obsession with black hats at the moment, which is no surprise as there are heaps out there at the moment.
I have just bought a black floppy fedora hat from H&M and I love it! Trouble is now I want to start collecting different styles.
I just wanted to put together my top faves on the high street at the moment for you, I hope you like my choice. Other places to look are Marks and Spencers and Debenhams, they are both doing a wide selection of all different colours and styles.
I am also loving the chunky head bands around at the mo too, both H&M and Urban Outfitters do them, they look great!
