The Fab Megan (Event Organiser) and Sarah (Ship-Shape and Bristol Fashion)

Had a perfect morning at The Cabot Circus S/S 2012 Fashion shows on Saturday. What a way to spend your Saturday morning. I was in great company too, It was lovely to meet Megan Dacey, the event organiser for the show who couldn’t do more for you and I sat next to the lovely Sarah from Ship-Shape and Bristol Fashion who was also snapping away (Pictured Above, Left to Right Megan and Sarah). I also had the pleasure of joining the Fab Megan and Sarah in the live bloggers lounge after the first show.

Well lets get down to the clothes – I am still loving the pastel colours out there at the moment and the New Look set was all about mouth watering pastels, modelling an eye catching pallet with silver balloons. I have to say the choreography in all the shows were fantastic and some great tracks were being played. Oasis have some amazing summery floral dresses in store at the moment, picture drinking tea in an English country garden, I think I want every dress in the Oasis set. Stepping away from all the bright colours, white is big for the s/s season. MangoHarvey Nichols and Reiss showed some beautiful bright white pieces. I especially fell in love with the Reiss textured white jumper and cotton white skirt combo, one of my favourite outfits of the shows. I also loved the skinny bright white jeans by Mango with a little white cami top. This show has convinced me I need more white in my wardrobe! It looks beautiful but unfortunately when I am wearing it, it doesn’t stay bright white for long so I often shy away from buying it. Shorts are still big this year, as well as Mango, Warehouse also showed some metallic shorts, great for a night out! I love my shorts!
Warehouse and LK Bennett were all about stand out in the crowd block colours of Pinks and Blues! I am loving bright blue dresses at the moment and may just have to be added to my wish list. I have to say the stylist JP did an amazing job styling the show, it certainly made me want to just hit the shops! I especially loved the choreography of the River Island set, As the models wore bold clashing prints, they were complimented with Marigold gloves, holding colourful washing baskets. These big bold prints are everywhere at the moment and the rule is if the prints don’t match or you don’t think they go together then you have got the look right there. Jane Norman were all about Party dresses with statement shoes, again was taken with the blue dresses and loved those red platform wedges, Wowawea!
Yellow is also splashing about the stores right now, try tight yellow jeans from Harvey Nicks or the floral yellow dress from Oasis. The Republic set was vibrant and energetic showing their casual sportswear, I was a bit disappointed because I love Republic dresses (Have a couple of amazing Maxis) and would have loved to see them shown instead but I have to say their casual wear is great and I am definitely after their colourful shorts, in every colour I may add!

My wish list : Bright Blue Dress from LK Bennett or Jane Norman, Floral dress from Oasis, Republic bright shorts for the summer, checking out Mango and Reiss for all things white. Some killer platform wedges!

Well I guess that is it from me, but before I go I just want to thank Cabot Circus for having me and putting on an amazing production. Thanks so much to Megan and I hope to see you next year!

Lovely Day

On a lovely sunny day it is great to kick off the heavy boots and slip into something a little lighter, I am loving the canvas pumps around for the Spring/Summer season. New Look have a vast collection of pumps in all different colours. I love this stripey pair teamed with some pastel blue jeans (My favourite ones are from River Island) and a pastel pink panelled shirt. On chillier days of late, I love to wear my black mock leather jacket from H and M, It is the best imitation leather jacket I have ever seen. I love to wear mine with my Topshop shirt to emphasise the panelling. My bag goes everywhere with me, I bought it at the Mulberry outlet at Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet. I have used it every day ever since.

Bristol Fashion Week 2012 in Pictures

A big, big thank you to Amy Tout for kindly inviting me to the Bristol Fashion Week Live Blogging Event at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway last Friday. What a great day! The sun was out  and the fashionistas were dressed to the nines. It is Bristol’s first live blogging fashion show and it was a feast for the eyes and a theatre production in itself. Hosted by TV stylist Mark Heyes and celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, we were shown a taste of this seasons pastel shades, tribal patterns, maxi dresses and lots, lots more! My personal favourite scenes were Miss Selfridge modelling their beautiful floaty maxi dresses, Oasis with their tropical floral prints and Jigsaw in ‘the best rip-off of Chanel’ Mark Heyes had ever seen. All clothes were the latest hottest high street trends available at The Mall. Brands showing included delicious pastels by John Lewis, luxe sportswear by Next, office/smart wear by Hobbs, 1920′s inspired Marks and Spencers, bright floral dresses by Oasis, Dune shoes, Miss Selfridge’s delicate nude, sheer maxi dresses and last but not least Chanel-esque Jigsaw! Just enough to tickle your taste buds and hit the shops! Thanks again Bristol Fashion Week!

Haggling Just So Fashion Style!

Black Leather Jacket – H&M, Orange floral Maxi Dress – New Look, Aztec Maxi Dress – Republic, Blue Baxter Jeans – Topshop, Black Cardigan – Instant Vintage, T-shirts – H&M and Topshop, Black Sandals – Moda in Pelle, Gold Ballet Shoes – Blue Velvet, Vintage Leather Bag – Stuart Weitzman, Scarf – H&M

Everyone should experience Marrakech at least once in their life. At first it is a shock to the system but you soon adapt and enjoy the vibrant and exciting city. Haggling was certainly a unique experience and I would like to share some of my personal top tips and finds! Daunting at first but then you do get better at it, well once I had bought a plastic magnet for £8 I soon did! I discovered you will always be asked how many, how many? I nearly ended up with six pastel coloured scarves! Ok they were pretty but I didn’t want six! You will also more than likely come out of the shop with a better product than you initially haggled for and for a cheaper price!? The sea of colourful leather shoes are totally eye catching, I soon ignored being warned that the leather can smell from the tanning and preservation process. I bought a pair of pretty pink ballet shoes which I am still airing but the smell is disappearing so don’t be too put off. I also knew nothing about Argan before I visited Marrakech and now I am hooked. Used for skin and hair, it comes as a soap or oil produced from the kernels of  argan trees. The oil is great for unruly hair but use a very small amount, I use it when my hair is still damp before styling.  The rose oil is lovely too and smells great on the skin. Oh and not forgetting the famous ‘black soap’ they use for Hammams, which by the way, you can’t come home without having. If you don’t already know, a Hammam is a steam bath that is traditionally a public bath, but now many of the riads have their own private ones (our riad had one in the vaults which was completely tiled and smelt amazing!). At first it is like a sauna experience but as you lie on the massage table with the scent of eucalyptus in the air, warm water is poured all over your body and then you are scrubbed vigorously with black soap using a scrubbing mitt called a Kiis. It sounds painful but it will be the cleanest and smoothest you have ever been! I loved it and highly recommend one. I have even been trying to source them in the UK.
So book yourself a trip to Marrakech for a unique shopping and beauty experience. I just want to get back on that plane and do it all over again, and again, and again!
